What we collect, why, and how to ask us to delete it.

Tarrant County Desk is an independent local-news publication. Not affiliated with Tarrant County government. This privacy policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What we collect

When you visit this site, our hosting provider records standard server log information: IP address, user-agent string, request URL, response size, and timestamp. These logs are retained for 30 days and used only to debug technical issues and detect abuse.

We do not use third-party analytics that build user profiles. The site has no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no third-party behavioral-advertising tags, and no cross-site tracking cookies.

When you submit a story tip or correction, the email you send is stored in our newsroom email system. We retain tip correspondence for the duration of any related reporting plus seven years, per our editorial records-retention policy.

When you subscribe to our newsletter (if and when we launch one), we store your email address and subscription preferences in our newsletter provider's system. You may unsubscribe at any time from the bottom of any newsletter.

What we don't collect

  • We do not require accounts to read this site.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share email addresses with third parties.
  • We do not place advertising cookies.
  • We do not collect precise geolocation data.

Cookies

We use a small number of strictly-necessary cookies for site functionality (such as remembering whether you've dismissed a banner). We do not use cookies for analytics or advertising. No cookie banner is required under most jurisdictional rules; we provide this disclosure for transparency anyway.

Children

This site is intended for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you can:

  • Request a copy of any data we have about you.
  • Request that we correct inaccurate data.
  • Request that we delete your data, subject to our editorial records-retention policy for source material.
